Patrick Despain, Mike McGehee and Danny Fowler created ShutDownInning.com in October of 2011. Our mission is providing accurate analysis and well thought out opinions on all things Texas Rangers baseball, as well as coverage, opinion, analysis and historical writing on baseball in general.

Since the website’s inception on October 4th, 2011, we have been featured by the following:

  • 1340AM The Fan in Lubbock, Texas,
  • the Baseball Prospectus podcast “Fringe Average”, and on MLBTradeRumors.com.

Our website and articles have been recognized and shared via social media by:

  • Bob Sturm and Mike Rhyner, hosts of Sportsradio 1310 AM “The Ticket” in Dallas, Texas,
  • Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Gavin Dawson, Jeff Cavanaugh, and Mike Bascik on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Texas
  • Brian Kenny from MLB Network.

We’ve also been recognized by Ken Rosenthal, MLB insider for Fox Sports and Evan Grant, Rangers beat reporter for the Dallas Morning News.

In 2015, we were mentioned on the Rangers radio broadcast multiple times by color commentator and part-time play by play voice Matt Hicks.

SDI underwent a management change in early 2014 as Patrick, Mike and Danny moved on to explore other avenues. Billy Casey took over and kept the quality and the vision set forth by the founders. In 2016, Samuel Hale took on a larger role within the site by becoming the managing editor and Vice President of Content but has since graduated to the big leagues by becoming a writer for WFAA Channel 8’s Baseball Texas section. Sam is one of several former SDI’ers to move on and write for WFAA, along with Matt Fisher.

In December 2016, site management changed again as Billy Casey moved forward with other opportunities. John Manaloor and Chris Connor became co-owners of the site, with Chris assuming the role of Editor-in-Chief. Chris and John have expanded the vision and strategy of SDI, keeping focus on Rangers baseball but expanding coverage of baseball overall. Further, they are establishing an internship program so that SDI might continue to expand as a growth opportunity for writers looking to move into the professional ranks of sportswriting.

SDI is thankful for the men that built this site along with the many incredibly talented writers make the site what it is today. The management and staff strive to keep SDI atop the Rangers blogging world and will no doubt continue to bring you top notch Rangers coverage, news, and analysis.

We would like to thank all of the people who continue to support us and have supported us in the past.
