We, Rangers fans, love to live tweet their games on Twitter. It’s fun and in doing so, we become united.
But have you ever wondered what people from the other side of the Pacific do during the Rangers games? Ever since Yu Darvish made his outing as a Ranger, there many people live tweeting the Rangers from Japan. And they’re not so different from us.
I captured some tweets during Darvish’s last outing against Houston. The game started at 3:05 A.M. JST, but Yu separated people from sleep with his platinum performance.
“Oh, Darvish is starting today. I won’t be catching some sleep for awhile (･д･)”
“Good morning (^_^)/ Watching TEX vs HOU. Darvish is starting.”
“I was going to sleep but noticed that Darvish is starting. Can’t miss this one.”
- During the top of the first inning.
“Beltre’s RBI single!! Pierzynski plates another run! The Rangers get 2! #Darvish #mlbjp”
“Darvish’s got some early run support.”
- After the bottom of the 1st, where Darvish struck out the side
“Darvish struck out 3 in a row. (・∀・)”
“This Rangers-Astros game looks like nothing other than a battle between a major league team and an AAA team.”
- Some folks realized during this game that the Rangers traded for Alex Rios.
“Oh, the Rangers are playing now. And they acquired my favorite outfielder Alex Rios! I’m happy to see this!!!”
And this guy, somehow, got something wrong
“I’ve heard of this Lind guy the Rangers traded for….ah, he’s formerly played for the Blue Jays.”
- OK, Adam Lind is a Blue Jay. That’s correct. But the Jays have not -or will never- dealt him. I hope this person has learned that by now.
- Let’s go back to the game. As Darvish’s dominance goes by, people’s tensions were only getting higher and higher.
“Darvish perfect through 4 with 7 Ks.”
“I don’t care about Rangers offense I just wanna watch Yu pitch.”
“Congrats on the 200th strikeout of the season!!!”
- And then Ron Kulpa ruined everything.
“Darvish’s perfect is gone. ＼(^o^)／
F*** you ump”
This guy literally said the F word in the Japanese character.
Let me throw in this tweet from myself.
“Ron Kulpa, who called ball on the 2-2 pitch, also made an unfavorable call for the Rangers in game 3 of the 2011 World Series”
- In the 8th inning, Carlos Corporan did a bad thing
“Noooooooooooooo~ Darvish gave up a hit~”
“Darvish couldn’t get the no-no, but worth staying up. It was a great outing.”
- After Joe Nathan closed the game.
“Congrats on the 12th win and 15 K, Darvish ＼(^o^)／. It was the domination. He couldn’t get it done against the Astros again, but I think he’ll get it next time he faces them.”
“Rangers! Congrats! Darvish YU~ congrats on the 12th win♪＼(^o^)／”
No one yells “Oh s**t” after Adrian Beltre homers. No one tweets hashtags like #KittenFace, #BodyLanguage, or #HelloWinColumn. But these people enjoy watching the Rangers games and live tweeting them like us, at a crazy hour.
