Rangers Re-Sign RHP Nick Tepesch

The Rangers announced on Wednesday that they have agreed to terms with right handed pitcher Nick Tepesch on a minor league deal. Tepesch will receive an invite to Spring Training as well.

Tepesch missed all of last season due to numerous injuries, most notably surgery to correct Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in his right side. That is the same surgery that plagued former Rangers Matt Harrison and Jarrod Saltalamacchia

Tepesch hasn’t shown the promise that the Rangers had once hoped posting FIP’s of 4.19 and 5.01 in 19 and 23 games respectively between 2014 and 2015. Tepesch had a minuscule K/9 rate of just 4.0 in 2014 and that is nowhere close enough to be able to sustain big league success. He will need to miss more bats if he wants to stay at the big league level.

For his career, Tepesch is 9-17 with a 4.56 ERA 4.66 FIP and a 1.365 WHIP over 219.0 innings (basically a full seasons worth of work for a starting pitcher).
