SDI Staff 2016 Postseason Predictions

2016

Since our preseason predictions went so well, we decided to try our hand at some postseason predictions. We apparently have some homers who write for our site since it appears that most of the picks include the Rangers as World Series Champions.

All that matters is that my predictions will be the most accurate. You’ll see.

Be sure to scroll to the right to see the rest of the picks. What are your picks? We’d like to see them. Make your picks below in the comments.

Grant Schiller
Grant is currently a student at the University of North Texas and long-term hopes to get into the world of scouting. He will spend many nights over the summer checking out the prospects around the Texas League in Frisco. When not around baseball, Grant will probably be dropping threes at the rec with no remorse.

One comment

  • AL Wild Card: Orioles (why: Tillman, and bullpen)
TEX/Wild Card: TEX (why: home field, better smarts, but Rangers will have to claw their way to victory)
BOS/CLE: BOS (toss-up, really; Boston is an unguided missile, you never know)
ALCS: TEX (basically the English (TEX) vs the Spanish Armada (BOS); strategy wins. Plus home field)
NL Wild Card: Mets (Giants give up after the 7th)
CHC/Wild Card: Cubs (because Cubs will brute force their way to victory)
WSH/LAD: WSH (why: home field advantage? I don’t know, I like WSH)
NLCS: WSH (I don’t know, I still like WSH)
    World Series: TEX
    WS MVP: Bannister (fine, Beltre)

Why TEX? Because I’ve never seen the Rangers play baseball like this. Smart. Strategic. Clutch. This HAS to be their year. So long as the starting pitching holds up. There is also the crazy-good Win/Loss record against above-.500 teams (take away the Astros and it’s less crazy). I have no idea how to explain that except by statistical noise, but hey, it’s better than the alternative. And they have home field advantage, and that is huge. Plus luck goes a long way in the postseason, and everyone agrees they are the luckiest team in baseball.
