Why The Rangers Won’t Win The World Series

The Rangers have had the Holy Grail slip through their fingers back in 2011 and despite the fact they want to experience the ultimate baseball victory, it won’t happen this year. Never mind the fact there is a gaping hole in left field or the numerous pitching injuries, here is a list of the primary reasons why the Commissioner’s Trophy won’t end up in Arlington:
  • Zero All-Star starters

  • One Cy Young candidate (Yu)

  • One MVP candidate (Kinsler)

  • One guaranteed Hall of Famer (Beltre)

  • Seventh in team OPS

  • Seventh in team ERA

  • Zero pitchers in top 10 in FIP (Holland 11th, Darvish 12th)

  • Zero pitchers in top five in fWAR (Holland and Darvish tied for 7th)

  • One player leading their position in AL OPS (Cruz)

  • Gold Glove caliber outfielder is the fourth outfielder (Gentry)

  • Lack leadership provided by a DH with a slash line of .277/.312/.370

  • Too many young, athletic players and not enough grizzled veterans

  • One Cuban sensation…..for now (Martin)

  • Profar is overrated

  • Too hot in Arlington
By examining this list it is easy to see why the Rangers won’t win the World Series or better yet, not make the playoffs. If you want to be optimistic and think the likes of Colby Lewis, Joakim Soria, Alexi Ogando, Neftali Feliz and trade pieces are going to help this ballclub down the stretch, by all means you can be hopeful. As for me, I’m looking towards 2014.

Any other reasons you can think of as to why this team won’t be successful the rest of the season?
